How to Get There
We stayed here in September! I’ve stayed in Positano many times and in various hotels. The hotel itself was in a great location, the view from the room amazing but some of the staff left us with a negative impression. Our front desk lady was very sweet and checking in was easy. At some point we asked her for a suggestion for a place to eat since their restaurant wasn’t open and we were hungry. Another older women interejected rudely, she didn’t know, much to the visual embarrassment of the younger lady. We came to find out she was the owner....the young girl tried to apologize but it wasn’t her fault. I travel to Italy 4-6 times a year and have given many recommendations for places to stay. There are many places stay in Positano that are as beautiful or more beautiful than Hotel Gabrisa. I won’t return.
Personally I think the hotel looks better in the photos. Having said that, it’s a nice hotel and has a cosy feel to it. The staff are very friendly and obliging, and the hotel has amazing views of the sea and of Positano. It is a fair walk into the main part/the beach so take walking shoes! The first room we were shown looked a bit tired and shabby so we paid to upgrade to a much nicer room which was fabulous and made our stay. The restaurant was closed when we stayed there and it’s a shame we weren’t forewarned about this but hey. I had a lovely time and would recommend this hotel even though I think it is slightly overrated.
The view from the balcony is amazing, the size of the balcony is legit
The services from the staff is outstanding
However the restaurant of the hotel is closed for the season, have to seek near by restaurant for dinner
It is about 15 to 20 minutes walk to the town square,
My wife and I just finished 5 nights at the hotel. We had visited 10 years ago and it is still a perfect hotel. There are more luxurious hotels in Positano, but Villa Gabrisa has a great location (high on the hill), great rooms with views, a wonderful staff, and a very good restaurant! With a welcome drink, clean facilities, wi-fi, and a staff that speaks English, it was very easy to settle in and relax for the period.
It is STILL on our list to return!
We spent 5 nights in this hotel and couldn't have been more pleased. From the welcome glass of Prosecco to the beautiful view at breakfast each morning, this family run hotel was wonderful. The staff at the front desk and the servers were exceptional. Special mention to the woman from Montepertuso that served us each morning. She is sweet and so very nice. Sorry..we can not remember her name.
We stayed in room in the attic and found it to be suitable for our needs. The A/c unit was great and cooled off the rooms quickly. We did find the floral/perfumy smell in our rooms a little strong for our personal preference but that would not stop us from recommending this hotel to anyone.
