How to Get There
I arrived at 12 to check in for the weekend and was told there was nothing available at this point, which I understood. However, after seeing fellow colleagues arrive later and have a ready room, I became pretty annoyed. Especially considering I am a Marriott gold member.
I tried to shake that off and not worry about it but arriving in the room there was no water or coffee. After having to request they bring some to our room twice we finally got a bottle of water.
Other colleagues were complaining over the weekend about the resort running out of towels, rooms not getting serviced, etc.
My biggest complaint however was the bed. I’ve never had my neck hurt so bad after sleeping on that mattress and pillow. I just expected more from a Marriott resort.
A group of my friends stayed at the Westin Huntsville in an Executive Suite. The Suite was fantastic. We had a full kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. The amenities were fantastic. We ate at the Sage Grille for breakfast and were not disappointed. The pool was small (we couldn't find a seat when we first went down. That would be the only reason I wouldn't give it a 5/5 rating.
This is a fine hotel but is definitely the weakest Westin property I've stayed at. The staff were very friendly. The facilities were out of date and the rooms smelled musty. One of two elevators was down and the pool area was out of order.
One phone call was all it took. Service Express was on it from the beginning and Roselynn ( I hope I have her right) was phenomenal. The attention to detail was executed with precision all the way around. The property is an absolute must for anyone spending time in the Huntsville area. It is situated behind the shopping area and is kept in superb condition. Our suite was immaculate and the extra touches were perfect! ( if you are of the male gender reading this: ask for the Dog House amenity through service express. If you are NOT in the dog house it should be banked for future use. just saying!)
The only issue we had was at breakfast the next morning. According to the restaurant manager and large portion of the staff had called out and service was not up to par for this property. They absolutely did the best they could but it was an unfortunate occurrence during an otherwise perfect stay. The lone server did her best to manage the floor with some help but there was a noticeable drop in service and items not being refilled on the buffet.
Thank you to everyone who made this an amazing weekend getaway and you can count on us to be back!
We have stayed at this Westin several times. This was our last. At 6 o’clock every morning, we were woken by loud music playing at the entrance. Keep in mind we were on the 4th floor. I was mostly disappointed with the lack of service. My daughter was in a soccer tournament and we needed to wash her uniform between games. We’ve stayed at many motels across the South East traveling with her soccer team and this has never been an issue. I have always been able to purchase laundry detergent, not here, they were completely out. They told me I could drive to the Dollar General and get some. I explained I couldn’t drive anywhere because my husband dropped me off to go pick up my daughter at the soccer fields. They just said they were sorry, no help. I then needed a wash cloth the next morning and they were out of those, really??? They told me they could give me a hand towel. The lady at the front desk then called someone and said that she called the valet service and they would bring me a couple down. After waiting a good 5 minutes, he brought me 2 hand towels. So disappointing! Keep in mind, I never write reviews, unless they are good, but this was ridiculous.
