Luxe family-friendly beach boutique with apartment-style suites in a beautiful and remote corner of mainland Greece
In a remote corner of mainland Greece, between pine forests and the sparkling Aegean, the Thalatta Seaside Hotel is a sleek family-friendly boutique beach property. The main aim here is to switch down a few gears; it may be a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Athens, but once you arrive you don't need to leave. Stretch out by the pool or lounge under a parasol on the long pebble beach, rent a transparent kayak to paddle over the turquoise waves, or lose yourself in a book from the beach library. Children are made more than welcome with clubs, activities, puppet shows and horseback riding, and they get nutritional kid-friendly food. Parents can take time out with the babysitting service to sample the cocktail gems created by the hotel’s mixologist, indulge in a treatment at the spa, enjoy an intimate dinner on the beach, or tap into the slow food philosophy at Baxe, located on the upper level deck next to an open-air fireplace. All rooms offer sea views from sizable balconies, and the apartment-style layout encompasses a sitting area and a mini-fridge. The calming color scheme complements the Aegean and the surrounding forest, with pale wooden furniture set against pops of the same greens and turquoises you’ll see from your balcony.
In the Area
You could spend all your time soaking up the Greek sunshine and bathing in the blue water, but if you want to explore further, there’s plenty to do in the area. For hikers there are easy trails and more challenging treks through forests, ravines and clear water streams. A favorite is a hike to the Drimonas Waterfalls for a natural shower under the cascade (the hotel can have a picnic waiting for you there). Take a trip to one of the ancient nearby villages, such as Agia Anna or Gouvies, or cool down on a chartered yacht or rent a transparent kayak for a guided tour of a nearby island.
