How to Get There
We recently spent our honeymoon at Azura for 8 nights. The seclusion and natural beauty of the resort made it a memorable experience, but what really separated the experience as an extraordinary one was the service from Pedro. He went above and beyond to ensure we were having the best time from surprising with special dinner locations to accommodating our meal preferences, and just absolutely being so friendly and genuine. When you stay at resorts like this what really separates this resort from the rest of the pack is the service and attentiveness of the staff and Pedro exemplified the highest level of service. Thank You!!!!
We have just spent 7 nights at the incredible Azura Benguerra lodge. The helicopter transfer was so efficient upon landing at Vilanculos. An exciting start to our holiday! We are a family of 5 and Azura kindly upgraded us to the beautiful Villa Amizade. The accommodation is superb with plenty of space. We loved the bathrooms especially the stunning outdoor shower. We were so well taken care of by Bella, Teresa and Jonas. We loved the effort made to ensure a different location for each dinner and the food is excellent. Especially the breakfast which has a huge variety. The activities are expensive but worth it. We loved our picnic on North Benguerra and the snorkeling trip we did twice at 2 mile reef is outstanding. The reef is in pristine condition.
Bear in mind that the island is tidal so at low tide you are not able to swim. We loved the dhow sunset cruise and island tour. Our week went by so quickly and I was very sad and emotional to leave. This place left an imprint and uplifted our spirits enormously. I highly recommend it!
I would recommend the deck surrounding the pool at Villa Amizade be revamped and some pool tiles were missing. Thank you Azura for a truly memorable stay - we will be back!
We had a truly special stay at Azura. The villa was incredibly spacious and comfortable, if a little dated. The setting was sublime, but would have been extraordinary had management been willing to cut back some of the vegetation so that you could see the sea from the villa and sala. I understand the need for privacy, but with sea views and sunsets like this, it would truly enhance the villa to have more unobstructed views.
The food was wonderful and our butler, Anderson, went the extra mile to make every one of our dinners a memorable experience – even going so far as to bring in a Dhow on to the beach as a backdrop for our private dinner experience. Anderson was an absolute legend and his attention added significant value to our stay. And our girls all loved him!!
The excursions were also incredible and really well thought out and with great variation. Sadly a little too expensive for us South Africans to experience all the opportunities. And it must be noted that the two mile reef is the best snorkelling I’ve ever experienced (and we’ve done Maldives!!).
All in all a really fantastic few days and a great way to spend a Southern African winter.
