the Spa and treatments were godious and worth the visit
This review is based on 7 Nights with my wife and 3 yr old daughter in November 2018. We booked the Courtyard Villa.
The resort was an hour and a half away from Tangier Airport.
The resort arranged a car for us (don’t remember the price), our driver Abdul Malik was very nice.
Tetouan city is close by, if you want to visit and do other activities (Not much to do).
1) Check-in was a bit slow, and especially we were the only one checking-in
2) The staff was terrific, very humble. They treated my daughter well. Special thanks to the lady in the Kids club (Sorry I forgot your name) for taking care of my daughter. The staff is the biggest positive thing in the resort.
3) In November the resort is dead, not everything is open, and you can’t do activities.
4) The main problem with the resort is the food:
- The breakfast was good
- In-room service food was uneatable.
- Main restaurants are also bad.
- The food was so bad, I had to take a cab and go to McDonald's to eat something satisfying.
- The worst thing that I was paying big for bad food.
5) The Jacuzzi was not heating the water properly.
- I called the first day, and they came to fix it, they said it is fixed.
- The second day still not working properly, called again and they came and “fixed it”
- The third day still having issues with the Jacuzzi, this time they fixed it for real.
6) They had sheesha, it was terrible.
7) The spa generally was good
- We swam in the Spa’s pool since it was indoor.
8) The hotel helped us to book a trip to chefchaouen, and it was a nice trip.
1) The resort and villa were beautiful (Please look at the photos).
2) The bathroom is enormous, has a stand shower and bathtub. Some floor tiles were heated
3) The wireless internet is stable and fast
4) They provided us with a baby bed
5) the villa was very private
Please note the weather is cold at this time with a light rain shower.
Please also note that they charge a commission if they pay the taxi on your behalf. I believe it was 5%?

We spent four nights at the Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay. The drive from the Tangier Airport is breathtaking! We were so surprised at the raw beauty of the area with the mountains, lush greenery and the Mediterranean Sea. Despite a few service problems which were addressed to our satisfaction, we enjoyed our stay a great deal.
When we arrived, we were not greeted by staff despite the fact the resort arranged our transportation. We wandered into the reception area which was quite busy. The staff look surprised when they saw us and acted a bit hesitant. Cold towels and drinks were brought and we officially checked in. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and were not especially friendly and warm. We were not taken on a tour of the resort, but instead, dropped off at our large villa. We were not escorted into the villa and instructed on the features as is the norm at a five star resort, but given the key card as the buggy sped away. I think this is the exception and not the norm! We were, however, very appreciative of the double upgrade to the two bedroom ocean front villa. It is very large with a huge dining/living area and a microwave and cooktop. Although it is new, we were surprised the only USB port was on the television. The decor seemed a bit bland and the dining room furniture was dark and dated. This is a personal preference, but the decor could be a bit more modern and colorful. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. The bathrooms were also very large, well appointed and much more modern with beautiful Moroccan tile. (The front courtyard and entrance way was also beautiful with Moroccan tile) The outdoors area is really spectacular. It is an enormous area with multiple seating areas, a stunning pool and jacuzzi. The view of the water and beach is lovely. The architecture is very impressive, and the villa had a very opulent and expansive feel. Unfortunately, we had five service calls on the jacuzzi, and the water never remained warm for long. That is unfortunate as the weather was a bit chilly and the pool was quite cold. We knew this would be the case when we made the reservation, but we were hoping the jacuzzi would make up for it. Nonetheless, the water of the pool was crystal clear and well maintained. I braved the chilly water and spent as much time as I could!
On our first night, we had dinner at Saffron restaurant. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. The next day, we attempted to purchase tickets for the train from Tangier to Casablanca for the following Monday. We were told all we had to do was make the arrangement and we could pick up the tickets at the reception desk. Well, that was not the case for us. The staff helped us with the train website, but we were unable to purchase tickets as foreign credit cards were not accepted. The front office manager, M. Lotfi, was very kind and actually purchased the tickets using his personal credit card, and we reimbursed him immediately. We expected to receive a confirmation email within an hour. That did not happen, and suffice to say, we did not receive the tickets until Monday! (More on that later.) That same night, we had dinner at Saffron again. They were very busy and the service was quite poor. So, at this point, we were VERY frustrated! I asked to speak with the general manager, Mr. Najdi, who appeared personally at our villa. He was very kind, calm and patient as let me vent! He apologized profusely and assured us we were a top priority, and he would do everything in his power to make the rest of our stay enjoyable. I am pleased to say he was true to his word. He did arrange for the train tickets as promised. He kept in touch with us throughout the remainder of our trip and met us personally several times. He offered free spa treatments and a complimentary meal at Saffron. His actions turned the entire trip around for us and we were very satisfied.
We enjoyed the spa treatments and found the staff to be very warm and friendly. The staff at breakfast was incredible! They were very competent, warm, friendly and efficient. The food at all the restaurants was excellent. The housekeeping staff was top notch and very responsive and thorough. The main pool is very impressive. We chose to stay in our villa as we enjoyed the privacy. The gym is small but has nice equipment. Overall, the resort is well maintained. Neither of the phone hand units in the villa worked, so we had to use the speaker funcion. I do have a suggestion: All calls had to be made to guest services which is the front reception area. There were times when they did not answer as I am sure they were taking care of multiple requests. It would be more efficient to be able to call the restaurants, Spa, housekeeping, etc, directly and relieve the front desk of its workload.
The location is perfect. It is very close to town but the resort is quiet and surrounded by beauty. The Moroccan architecture is very stunning and impressive.
On our departure, Mr. Najdi met us to see us off and make sure we were satisfied. Thanks to him, we were and all ended well.
