Overview

Swank Egyptian sleep with a private beach, expansive pool complex and splurge-worthy spa on the Red Sea’s Soma Bay

The Lowdown

Fronting Soma Bay on the Red Sea, this Egyptian Kempinski outpost blends seamlessly into the arid landscape and wows guests with its ornate pillars, arches and expansive lagoon-style pool complex, which includes a lazy river flanked by inviting sunbeds. But here, the main attraction is the 1,312-foot private beach that’s dotted with palm trees, loungers and umbrellas. When hunger strikes, there are three restaurants to choose from that serve Mediterranean, Asian and Egyptian cuisine. And if you’re craving a libation, the outdoor Beachcomber Bar shakes up crafty drinks such as Arabic lemonade (fresh lime, fresh mint and sugar syrup). Elsewhere, the enormous 51,667-square-foot spa (one of the largest in the world) provides relaxation with Swedish treatments and underwater massages. All 291 guestrooms have garden or water views with Moorish architectural touches, tile floors and wood furniture; some have private balconies.

In the Area

Connected to the outside world by only a few paved roads, Safaga is a Red Sea town that brings coastal seclusion to a whole new level. With the resort’s lineup of restaurants and relaxation (waterview terrace dining and a 51,667-square-foot spa), stepping off-property might be tough. But anchor an afternoon with 7BFT Kitehouse and its flatwater Soma Bay kitesurfing that caters to professionals and beginners alike. Jump further in at Orca Dive Center, and take in the sanctity of jetty-launched inner and outer reefs. And for some land activities, 18 holes of Gary Player-designed golf beckon at Cascades Soma Bay.

Best Sommelier of Egypt
nik i

Fantastic hotel! Definitely the best one in Soma Bay. Comfoetable and very clean beach (and beach toilet) with excellent service. Lots of room to swim both with and without mask. as the depth varies greatly. Amazing tradition of live music at the beach around sunset. People don't rush taking the sunbeds as early as possible so you can find good ones anytime even close to the sea. The favourite part is the dinners with fantastic views if seated outside. Great quality food and, Egyptian wine! Allaa is a unique sommelier who knows wines perfectly and his suggestions you will always enjoy. He knows so much about wines and enjoys his work, can tell a lot about every kind. With his help we discovered Egyptian wines which turned out to be of really high quality.

Amazing trip

We spent 5 nights in Kempinski hotel Soma Bay
They have one of the best buffets in hurghada with high quality food and too many varieties
The staff is very friendly and cheerful, exceeding all the expectations without anything in return
Highly recommended Hotel

Great hotel with bad management
ramezhenrh

Worst management since long time ago.

Decent staff, beautiful location, yet managers can’t handle a small situation wisely!

It was obvious that they are really keen about what brings them more money, instead of focusing on applying some simple rules to comfort their guests related to swim-wear (pool, lazy river & beach) - where no rules were applied there, they see it (people who are breaking the rules) but just turn their back!

This was my 4th visit, and for sure it is the last, me and my family will never visit this specific hotel ever again.
