Great Pyramid views over ancient botanical gardens, plus six worldly eateries

The Lowdown

Art Deco meets Belle Epoque excess at this grande dame on the western bank of the Nile. After a day soaking up centuries of culture or cruising down the ancient river, get open-air R&R by the resort’s pool — perhaps with a local liqueur in hand. Six on-site restaurants serve everything from Lebanese delicacies to Egyptian-honeycomb-drizzled feteer. Balinese inspiration strikes during essential-oil treatments at the spa (or in-room). French Empire-style furnishings and marble bathrooms add a sense of grandeur in the guestrooms, which have mod-cons like 42-inch LCD TVs, DVD players, Bose sound systems and soaking tubs.

In the Area

Take an evening cruise down the Nile on one of the hotel’s boats, which were inspired by ancient pharaonic papyrus boats and include live music and belly dancing. You’re just a quick walk from the Egyptian Museum and the 80-acre Giza Zoo, which houses countless endangered species including the first California sea lion born in the Mid-East. Almost 4,000 years old, the 500-foot Great Pyramid of Giza turns heads as the most storied of the world’s Seven Wonders. The First Mall brings you (and your wardrobe) to the modern day with 300 International storefronts and scheduled fashion nights highlighting young Egyptian designers.

We went from perfection to what happened

We stayed for 2 1/2 days in a Suite which was amazing. The staff was incredible, facilities amazing, food outstanding. Then... we called down to the front desk to extend a night in the suite because we had a very late departure for our flight home. We asked them to extend our current rate and hopefully extend a little discount as we were really only staying a couple extra hours (to midnight). The gentleman we spoke to listened to our request, put us on hold to speak to a manager and came back with an offer to extend at a little discount. We were thrilled we didn't have to move..figure out a way to pack and store our bags..whatever. We left in the morning to do our last day of touring in Giza to find that when we returned our key didn't work. We went down to the front desk and were told that they weren't going to honor that lower rate and in fact, they were going to double our room rate for that suite. After a bit of debating my wife was getting rather frazzled, which I didn't need before our long flight home, so I talked her into settling on a King room and calling it a day. Anyway, I don't know if this is an Egypt thing or if it's actually a Four Seasons thing but it's a pretty crappy way to do business. The lady my wife was speaking too wasn't even nice about it, kind of snooty and arrogant if anything. Anyway, as always we'll be posting the full room review on YouTube when we get home and get it edited. Search for DOUGandNIKI anywhere and you'll find the video review. We'll be sure to include a more complete description of what happened to us but I guess I have to say... lock everything down in writing with the Four Seasons in Egypt, their word isn't worth much.

Great location

Well what can I say, was there for a 3 night stay. Staff very professional rooms very spacious and clean. The restaurant had the best Lamb Chops I've ever had. Was very excited to learn there was a mall attached to the hotel. Small cafe was nice after a long day on tours. Highly recommend

We were thoroughly satisfied with our stay at the Four Seasons Residence in Cairo. We had an upgraded room with a view of the pyramids at Giza; the view became clearer each day as the haze cleared. We highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent Experience!

This property was exquisite from start to finish! The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was great. We had a view of both the Nile and the Pyramids. The morning breakfast was great as well. All in all a wonderful stay.
