Set on the French-Swiss border, the charming village-resort of Châtel offers all sorts of sports and fun, from skiing and snowmobiling in the winter to biking and hiking in the summer, with paragliding, climbing and zip-lining thrown in for good measure.
Headed up by the Macchi family since the 1970s, four-star Hotel Macchi is full of intimacy and personal touches, from the warming cuisine straight through to the cozy décor. Add to that a spa with Ayurvedic massages, mountain views, a sauna and swimming pool plus a roaring fire in the lounge, and you’ve everything you need for a traditional chalet break in picturesque Haute-Savoie.
How to Get There
We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in this charming hotel. You feel at home when relaxing by the fireplace. Excellent service. Good location. Lovely breakfast. And try the pancakes in the bar for after ski!
We left booking our holiday rather late for the half term break but managed to get a room at this wonderful hotel. How lucky were we! What a find.
I travelled with my husband and 2 young children. We had a large room with a double bed and bunk beds. It had a balcony and the bathroom had a shower over the bath. Hairdryer. Safe. Tv. Free WiFi.
Each room has it's own heated ski equipment locker on the lower level which you access through the top car park. Plenty of space for everyone to sit and get their boots on.
There's a private shuttle bus from the hotel. We didn't use this ourselves but set up was straight forward and you could arrange for additional times direct with the driver if need be.
An indoor swimming pool, some gym equipment, hot tub, sauna. All of a great standard. There's a spa for massage too (unfortunately I didn't get to try this, ran out of time).
Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Great with kids. Nothing is too much trouble.
Pancakes at 4pm in the bar is a nice little touch.
They've thought of everything here.
You won't regret staying here.
Love this hotel for its staff, food, facilities and customer focussed attention to detail and friendliness. The pool, sauna, etc are a welcome facility for tired skiers.
Breakfast is excellent - one of the best, and helps get you started for an energetic day. The restaurant serves high quality and varied food.
Service all round is friendly and attentive. Used the restaurant often and stayed twice. Will definitely be staying again!
an overal fantastic experience, friendly staff, excellent facilities, amazing quality of food and choices of food, nice wine cellar (good pricing of the wine).
We had a wonderfull holiday and we'd recommend this hotel to everyone
A family owned and run, quality hotel. The food is just superb, as is the wine cellar. Stock of high-quality wines.
Both comfortable and warm, with a personal touch, a stay at this establishment will not disappoint!
