Secluded from the main stretch of the Riviera Maya, the Banyan Tree Mayakoba mixes Asian and Mayan touches in subtle, unexpected ways. Pagodas and private pools in every villa meet in terrain that could just as easily be Phuket: luxurious, light and designed to cater to all the senses.

Everything was perfect. The service. The beach. The pools. The rooms. Actually the rooms were better than we ever could have imagined. We had a courtyard villa and the private pool, jacuzzi and outdoor tub were spectacular. My girlfriend and I decided from now on we are planning our vacations around jetsetter promotions and Banyan Tree specials.
What I disliked
Nothing. Except having to leave the hotel.

Everything, the villa was absolutely perfect with all the right finishing touches. We especially enjoyed the bike rentals so we could go back and forth to the beach at our leisure without having to wait for the buggy. The staff was phenomenal, all had excellent english and the concierge took care of anything request without hesitation. We loved the resort, had a great time and hope to see it up on jetsetter again so we can afford to go again!
What I disliked
We were joking that we couldn't find anything to complain about with the resort. And we really couldn't.

The hotel was gorgeous, beyond our expectations. Service was courteous, prompt and always friendly and polite. I was there to celebrate my 40th birthday, and staff went above and beyone to help me feel extra special!
What I disliked
Transfer service between the hotel and the airport seems inordinately expensive. The rate should either be lower, or there should be options provided.

The room was exceptional! 3,100 square feet, totally private, private pool...what's not to love. The service was spectacular. Short beautiful boat ride to a gorgeous beach. Excellent food. Excellent spa.
What I disliked
Not really a dislike, but just a note that it is pricy. I paid $365 a night which was a great deal, less than 1/2 the normal rate, but the services and food are top dollar. Considering this is a Banyan Tree resort, that is to be expected and everything does meet or exceed expectation, but you pay for it.

Excellent Service. Stunningly beautiful resort. The villas are magnificent.
What I disliked
absolutely nothing. We did note that the prices on Jetsetter for next year are more than 2x what they currently are, and effectively similar to rates on the Banyan Tree website.

The rooms are hard to beat, especially at the price point. The concierge service is great. Very baby friendly- they even make baby purees. I also enjoyed the Eco tours.
What I disliked
Anything that we wanted to sign up for - dinners, Eco tours, massages, etc. Were all supposedly "booked solid," however when we would pass by the restaurant there were all of 3 tables occupied. We showed up for an Eco tour that was supposedly booked solid and were the only people on the tour. The hotel doesn't know how to manage it's services.

My best girlfriend and I traveled to this property from January 9-14, 2012. Normally I travel to Cabo once or twice a year and almost exclusely stay at the One and Only Palmilla. I have stayed at the Rosewood Mayakoba previously and loved it but got such a good deal on this resort that I couldn't pass it up. It exceeded my expectations for sure and I loved it much more than the Rosewood. I booked the trip through Jetsetter (highly recommended as you can get an awesome deal) and we stayed in a Garden Villa. It was more than enough room for the two of us with a lovely outdoor covered daybed as well as loungers and table and chairs. FYI there is a plug by the daybed to charge your ipad or plug in your laptop. This room does not have a hot tub but does have the lovely huge private pool. We had daily visits from a very large but tame anteater in our courtyard and morning wakeups from very annoying chachalaca birds (the locals say they taste like chicken!). As far as bugs go, there were tiny ants in our courtyard w
