              Elves & Trolls Aug. 15-Oct. 14

              Reykjavik, Iceland

              About your stay

              By Brandon Presser, Jetsetter Correspondent

You’ve heard the hype, and we’re happy to report that it’s all true — Iceland is anything but a land of ice. Floating between Europe and North America, and steeped in ancient Viking lore, this enigmatic island boasts an idyllic tapestry of natural anomalies and ethereal scenery. Go beyond Björk, currency crashes and plane-cancelling volcanoes to uncover what truly makes Iceland memorable, on this five-day adventure that kicks off with a whale-watching excursion on which you’ll spot Minke whales and, if you’re lucky, humpbacks and dolphins, too.

              What we love

              • The plush home base — the distinguished Hotel Borg, right in the middle of Reykjavik
              • Spotting humpback whales as they rise from the dark depths of the sea
              • Trekking along a thousand-year-old glacial tongue
              • A body-quenching soak in the Blue Lagoon
              • Speeding across a lunar landscape on an ATV
              • Interested in a later travel date? Our second Elves & Trolls itinerary, with departures Oct. 15 - Dec. 23, is quite similar (but doesn't include whale watching)
