You can count on Miami to bring on the heat: Among its downtown offerings, the Kelly Wearstler–designed Viceroy Hotel has a distinctly urban vibe and hip waterfront flair. It takes advantage of its coastal location with water views at every turn, and offers a city-in-the-sky experience from the 50th-floor pool and bar, a 28,000-square-foot spa and gym and a two-acre outdoor playground with the longest infinity pool in Florida.

              What we love

              • The hotel is in downtown Miami, about 15 minutes from South Beach
              • The parking fee is $30 a day
              • Reservations at the spa and Eos restaurant are recommended before arrival
              • The Viceroy is a part of the 10-acre Icon Brickell complex, which also has a marina, parks and outdoor jogging trails

              What to know

              • Rooms start at 410 square feet
              • WiFi is available in the rooms and common areas for $9.95/day
              • In-room coffee bars with coffee, tea, or espresso
              • Neil George amenities
              • The fresh orange juice at the spa’s juice bar
              • Soft, silky Kelly Wearstler–designed SFERRA linens

              Viceroy Miami Hotel & Resort

              Jetsetter review

Since opening in 2009, the Viceroy Hotel has set Miami’s downtown hotel standard: The steel and glass tower is a fortress of style and entertainment, from its rooftop bars and pools to an incredible 28,000-square-foot spa and Kelly Wearstler–designed rooms.

Each of the 162 rooms projects a modern Miami vibe, with daring interiors decked out in oversized lamps, patent leather chairs, four-poster beds and mint-green carpets and bed throws. Paintings of great egrets add old-Hollywood glamour, but function is not lost amid fashion: Rooms have discrete kitchenettes, coffee bars and large bathrooms.

Club 50's chic interiors are layered with Japanese inspired prints set in a sky-high atmosphere
The 15th floor is the epicenter of the hotel’s hip scene, with 200 chaise chairs, 12 cabanas and trees lining a 300-foot pool — the longest infinity pool in Florida. Inside, the small café has lovely whimsical touches like a glass fireplace, an oversized chessboard and a thermal hot pool that seats 50 people, and serves simple snacks and light lunches.

Viceroy guests also have access to a 28,000-square-foot wellness center. The spa is another Wearstler masterpiece; a huge canary yellow glass chandelier hangs over a series of marble pools in a two-story space with dark wood bookshelves lined with white tomes. There are 10 treatment rooms and spa services range from the expected (the Paradise, a 60-minute Swedish massage) to the decadent (a 120-minute Masterpiece treatment that includes a body exfoliation, massage and facial). The gym is a personal favorite for its photo-rendered wall murals and oversized vases, state-of-the-art equipment and views of the water and neighboring skyscrapers.

After working up an appetite, head to Eos restaurant for a meal from star chef Michael Psilakis. Dishes such as the Fonduta (sharp Pecorino cheese paired with honey and hazelnuts and served on pita bread) or a risotto with lobster, saffron, tomato and caviar are fresh and inventive, as is the vibrant space, with red whicker and black lacquered chairs. After dinner, zip up to Club 50 in the Viceroy Tower’s 50th floor, a bar and pool lounge with a small garden, ivy wall and those sweeping city views.

              • Dine. Don’t miss the first U.S. location of Zuma, a five-minute walk from the hotel, known for its artful Japanese cuisine, waterfront tables and 40 sake varieties.
              • Eat. A mural by artist Michelle Rojas and polished concrete floors are two design highlights at the Brasserie at City Hall Restaurant, serving up beachy comfort foods such as tilapia burgers.
              • Watch. If it’s raining, curl up on one of the long royal blue couches in the Viceroy’s movie theater, located next to the spa.
              • Visit. The New World Symphony is a stunning performance space designed by architect Frank Gehry.

So easy...and an incredible price. What more could a girl want!?!?

                What I disliked

Allowing customers the ability to provide preferences or comments when booking. For instance, my good friend and I were running the Miami Marathon when we stayed at the Viceroy and I usually request a "quiet" room in such cases when I'm booking online. We ended up along a bit of a loud street and that *could* have been avoided had preferences been asked. It also could have been inevitable too :)

The hotel was beautiful the beds were comfy and the pool was huge.

                What I disliked

The worst spa service I have ever had and one of the most expensive....the person who provided the pedicure spoke very little english and even worse did not understand english.

The service was suppose to last 60 min and it was done in 30.......with a big price tag, my 8 year old daughter could of did a better job.

I asked the person not to use the salt scrub on my legs, she nodded nicely and continued to use the salt scrub!

Would never go back because of the spa.....it is too bad but the spa is part of the hotel.......and I was that dissapointed.

Very nice decor. Good size and very clean. 24 hour room service very affordable and tasty. View from both pool areas was amazing!

                What I disliked

could get a bit noisy with people partying in their room after going to club 50.

They were absolutely LOVELY! Every moment was truly wonderful.

Upon my arrival at 10am, Ricardo at Reception checked me in right in! He selected a gorgeous room for me and Ricky showed me up to it and even pointed out various restaurants in the area from my terrace. It's a GORGEOUS hotel - so beautifully decorated (Kelly Wearstler AND Philippe Starck - amazing!), cool and chic, relaxing yet uplifting, and exceptionally well serviced. Every member of the staff was so generous, kind, courteous, and accommodating. Housekeeping was incredible and they even cleaned my room the day I was checking out - NO HOTEL EVER DOES THAT! I was blown away at every turn.

I can't wait to go back and enjoy another fabulous stay at The Viceroy Miami. Everyone who works there should be very proud of the job they do because it's exceptional. The managers and owner should also praise themselves on a job very well done. BRAVO!

                Very thankfully yours,
