              Hotel El Aguamiel

              Mendoza, Argentina

              About your stay

              By Rossana Acquasanta, Jetsetter Correspondent

This boutique hotel in Maipu, about 20 minutes from Mendoza City in Argentina’s marquee wine-producing region, has an ultramodern sensibility and a laid-back attitude. Intimate and exclusive, the eight rooms on this five-acre property are the love child of two architects, who built the small cottages to blend in seamlessly with Mendoza’s natural splendor. And you don’t even have to leave to taste the bounty: The hotel has its very own vineyard.

              What we love

              • Breakfast is included in the Jetsetter rate
              • The intimate, modern rooms (only 8 in all)
              • A relaxation treatment that uses natural ingredients
              • The friendly 24-hour staff
              • Views of the Cordon del Plata in the Andes

              What to know

              • No real spa, but relaxation treatments can be booked in-room
              • You’ll need a car to get around; parking at the hotel is free
              • The hotel’s vineyard is small — only about 30 rows
              • Although only 20 minutes from Mendoza City, El Aguamiel can be hard to find
              • Light sleepers (and nervous types) may be disturbed by the area’s stray dogs (not uncommon in Argentina)
