              The Skinny Near Kamala Beach, on Millionaire's Mile, Villa Yin is a stunning cluster of modern cliffside pavilions with sea views and a 60-foot infinity pool.

              The Look In line with Taoist yin-yang philosophy, Villa Yin balances old and new, dark and light. The layered buildings that make up the villa use traditional Thai frames with wood shingle roofs, but modern white concrete and glass fill out the forms and link the buildings.

              Would Suit Art aficionados. The French owners run a gallery in Shanghai, and they haven’t just decorated, they’ve curated. Throughout the house, antique and contemporary sculptures sit side by side.

              Room to Nab In the master bedroom, a triangular carving of Thai spirits from the 18th or 19th century serves as the headboard; next to it a 2007 canvas by Chinese painter Shi Lifeng shows a shiny red hand dripping with fluid human figures.

              The Wow The combined living and dining room is a dramatic, art-filled space with high ceilings and a stunning chandelier as its centerpiece. Floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides usher in sunshine to offset the jet-black walls, couches, and tile floors.

              Setting

              Villa Yin is on a row of luxury second homes known as Millionaire’s Mile.

              A finger-like peninsula jutting out into the Andaman Sea, Phuket is known for its pristine beaches, warm water and excellent seafood. With advantages like these, it’s no wonder that the world has discovered Phuket and its particular style of tropical bliss. But on the west coast sits Kamala Beach, a former fishing village and a lesser-known spot that has all of Phuket’s charm — with not so many revelers.

              What to do

              • Eat. Som tam, or papaya salad, captures the three flavors that best define Thai cuisine: sweet, spicy and salty. Sample a nice local version at Pavilion Beach Restaurant, just off the sand. Looking out onto Kamala beach, the open-air Rockfish serves dainty portions of high-quality seafood, pork and duck alongside a rainbow of cocktails.
              • Drink. At Vanilla Sky Bar on top of the Cape Sienna Hotel, pair the signature espresso martini with the sunset view.
              • Unwind. If you’ve never had a Thai massage before, expect something between a full-body rubdown and yoga class. Your villa manager can arrange for local masseuses to treat you in the covered pavilion on your deck.
              • Watch. Thailand’s katheoys, or lady boys, have perfected the art of gender transformation. Watch the most beautiful and talented strut their stuff at Simon Cabaret in Patong Beach, a few miles south of Kamala.
              • Bowl. If you like sports you can play while holding a cocktail, spend an afternoon at Kamala Lawn Bowl to bump bocce-like balls.
              • Golf. Tiger Woods and Greg Norman have both conquered the 18 holes of Japanese-designed Blue Canyon Country Club, about 25 minutes north of Villa Yin.
              • Swim. Phuket’s popularity can mean big crowds on the beaches. Bang Tao Beach, just north of Kamala, is a quieter option that still has golden sand and relaxed reggae bars. High-end resorts nearby mean taxis may overcharge on your return trip, so schedule your ride back in advance.

              How to get there

              Flights are available to Phuket International Airport (HKT) from major U.S. cities on a variety of carriers. Transfers to/from HKT are an additional cost and can be arranged through concierge services. Someone from the property will contact guests to make any arrangements.

              Rental Car: The villa is located in a private and secluded area. It is highly recommended that guests rent a car for the duration of their stay. The cost of a rental is between $50 and $200 per day, depending on type of car, insurance and GPS. Concierge services can coordinate car rental requests.

              After the trip has been purchased, a concierge member will contact you with the villa’s Terms and Conditions form detailing the required security deposit and additional details about the villa. Jetsetter will disclose members’ contact information, so members will be contacted by the villa owner or concierge service directly with all required materials, including the signed Terms and Conditions form and security deposit, prior to arrival.

              • For reservations made during the holiday season (December 15th to January 15th): If canceled more than 75 days from the date of check-in, the reservation is refundable up to 50% of the full rental price. If the reservation is canceled 75 days or less from the date of check-in, it is non- refundable.

              • A security deposit of $2,500 will be collected by the villa owner.
              • Additional gratuities for the villa staff, chef and housekeepers are recommended but are fully at the guest’s discretion.
              • Rates quoted for additional fees and services are subject to change due to currency conversion.
              • All taxes and fees imposed by the property, unless otherwise stated, will be added at the time of purchase on Jetsetter. Guests are responsible for all incidental charges during their stay (e.g., concierge services, villa damages, equipment rentals, etc.).
