Minutes from Cabo San Lucas, this nine-bedroom home is the ultimate Mexican party pad. The decor is a bit piecemeal — fish-themed tapestries appear frequently, colorful area rugs abound and patterned bedspreads punctuate the bedrooms — but no matter: This huge house is designed for revelry, not Architectural Digest. A huge U-shaped leather couch with room for at least 10 anchors the living room, and everywhere you look, from the outdoor bar to the 10-jet Jacuzzi, you’ll find another amenity tailored for a good time.

The home’s nine bedrooms are spread among three floors and are linked by outdoor staircases. Eight bedrooms have beach and sunset views from their balconies. (The only tease is that the sand is actually a half-mile walk down the hillside.)

Every morning a chef prepares breakfast for the group. For celebrations, the outdoor space can’t be beat. A new teak pool deck leads to a gorgeous infinity pool and huge Jacuzzi with sweeping ocean views. The cushioned chaise longues are perfect for sipping cocktails created at the built-in outdoor bar, and when dinnertime rolls around, look no further than the poolside grill.

About the area

On the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, the gated community of Pedregal was the first of its kind on the outskirts of Cabo San Lucas. The hillside neighborhood is known for luxury homes spilling down to a broad swath of golden-sand beach just one mile from the city center’s nightlife and shops.

What to do

  • Eat. Six miles east of Cabo San Lucas lies Esperanza Resort’s El Restaurante, with three levels of outdoor dining on stone terraces extending over the Sea of Cortez. The avocado vichyssoise and seafood salpicon (a flash-fried ceviche) are menu highlights. Love tequila? They’ve got more than 100 to choose from.
  • Drink. Skip the girls-gone-wild scene in Cabo San Lucas in favor of San Jose del Cabo’s more sophisticated nightlife. In the gallery district, the candelilt La Santa Wine Bar has nearly 30 wines by the glass and top-shelf tequilas.
  • Golf. Work on your swing at the 27-hole ocean-view Palmilla Golf Club. Perfect for living out your U.S. Open fantasies, it’s the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course in Latin America.
  • Volley. The Palmilla Tennis Club offers world-class facilities in Cabo San Lucas. Five courts are open from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. daily, including the tournament-level 260-seat shaded center court.
  • Explore. One look at the megayachts parked at the luxe 380-slip Cabo San Lucas Marina will tell you all you need to know about Cabo’s upscale transformation. The chic open-air restaurants along the waterfront are a great place to grab an early bite before hitting the clubs, or you can shop in air-conditioned comfort at the ritzy new Plaza Paraiso Mall.
  • Fish. In a region famous for excellent sport fishing, the Pisces Sportfishing Charters, located at the Cabo Maritime Center Marina, is one of the better outfits for tracking and catching big local species like blue marlin, mahimahi and Pacific sailfish.
  • Shop. In San Jose del Cabo you’ll find Mexican and international paintings, sculptures and objet d’arts at Galeria Corsica, and David Luna’s handcrafted furniture at Adobe.
