The World’s Most Expensive Hotel Suite

No, the most expensive suite isn’t in Dubai or Oman, the Maldives or Fiji. We’re talking the land of sky-high apartment complexes and luxury hotels; the hub of finance and fashion – that’s right, NYC, baby. So how did the city pull off such an upset? Grab a seat and we’ll fill you in.

If you’re looking to fork over $75K on a stay at the world’s most expensive suite – and America’s largest penthouse suite – head to The Mark Hotel on NYC’s Upper East Side.

The extravagant 12,000-square-foot space – which encompasses the entirety of the building’s 16th and 17th floors – was originally set to be sold as a personal residence (valued at a measly $60 million). But while it sat on the market, untouched after their grand opening in 2009, someone had the bright idea to transform the bi-level expanse into a palatial five-bedroom, six-bathroom suite with access to a private library, elevator, conservatory and 2,500-square foot roof terrace with unrivaled Central Park views.

Before its debut in 2015, acclaimed French interior designer Jacques Grange spruced up the suite – including its grandiose ballroom with 26-foot vaulted ceilings – with fresh cream finishes, light pops of color, custom furniture, and flowy window treatments, lending the airy space a less-hotel-ish, more homey feel.

Among the other myriad enviable features? His and her master bathrooms with heated floors (in The Mark’s iconic black and white style) and an infinity tub; a dining room that seats 24; a living room with white oak floors and a grand piano (baby grands are for children); two mint-green dressing rooms with walk-in closets larger than the average NYC bedroom (for storing any retail-therapy purchases you might make with your 24/7 access to Bergdorf Goodman, naturally); and a kitchen equipped with Miele and Gaggenau appliances and suave design touches from Piero Lissoni for Boffi (plus access to three-star Michelin chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, should you need a hand with meal prep).

The space caters to The Mark’s elite clientele – namely A-list celebs and international billionaires – but show them the money and it could be you cozying up to one of the suite’s four oversized fireplaces, freshly-delivered New Yorker in hand.

If somehow you’re looking for something even more lavish – we hear that when they open this summer, the Baroque-style villas at The 13 Hotel in Macau will be going for upwards of $100,000.
