"My favorite New Year's Eve was spent with my now husband in Boone, North Carolina. We’d traveled down to see a band called the Naked Gods play an awesome set out in the mountains and I remember it being freezing cold but so special and magical. We celebrated the countdown while the concert was still going, and the band went on to play at our wedding in 2012."

Photographer and Illustrator Todd Selby

"The best New Year's I can remember was about two years ago at my friend's place Coqui Coqui in Tulum, Mexico. My friends, family and I started the night by cooking a giant Italian feast and then ringing in the New Year on the beach. For some reason, my friends who live down there set a chair on fire, which they told me is a New Year's tradition for them. We had a blast." Todd's new book, Fashionable Selby, is available from March 2014.

"We like to change things up year to year for New Year's Eve and travel to different places around the world. This year my wife Laura Lee and I will be spending the holiday in Sydney and attending the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra's Not New Year's Eve event at the Sydney Opera House. The most fun New Year's Eve we've ever had was spent with friends at the Tropicana in Havana, Cuba. It was magical. We arrived at the club in vintage 1954 Chevy convertibles, went on stage and danced throughout the night."

Chef Masaharu Morimoto

“One of the most memorable New Year’s Eves ever was at Morimoto New York in 2006. I'd always wanted to open my own restaurant in NYC and finally did it in January of that year, so it was a double celebration. Since then, I've always celebrated New Year’s Eve at one of my restaurants.”

Photographer Patrick McMullan

"It was New Year's Eve 1999 and found myself in Times Square with an all-access pass since I was working with New York Magazine on their special Y2K issue. Sometimes I joke about feeling like a war photographer when I'm out, but that night I did sustain some serious battle wounds. I remember getting stepped on by a particularly sharp Manolo Blahnik heel to the point that my foot swelled up and I could barely walk. By 5 a.m. it was a really mess, but I was in a black tie, my date was my camera and it was truly an exciting night during at an exciting time."

"We kept it low-key last year and had a dance party at our apartment in Williamsburg with three DJs, including my brother Max. Around 1 a.m. some friends from Pok Pok restaurant brought over a tray of wings. So we danced, drank too much, ate too much and rang in the new year with all our best friends."

Island Outpost Founder Chris Blackwell

"My best New Year's Eve ever was in 1999, the eve of the millennium. A bunch of us chartered a boat on the Thames in London and we cruised down the river to Greenwich, where the time of the world was set in 1880. Then the boat went back up to Tower Bridge in time to see the most amazing fireworks display to take us into the next millennium."

Sorellina Jewelry Founder Nicole Carosella

"All of my favorite New Year's Eve consist of a fantastic meal surrounded by good friends, followed by a concert. It's become a bit of a tradition for me, and seeing Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings was one of the best. Celebrating with a huge venue of people when the clock strikes midnight is a guaranteed good time every year."
