Responsibilities of the Controller include:

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting consolidation and close processes to produce accurate and timely financial statements, including understanding key changes versus prior periods and versus plan (in collaboration with the Financial Planning team).
• Ensure that financial accounting policies and procedures are in place and are compliant with GAAP and other relevant accounting guidance.
• Interfacing with the independent public accountants to coordinate the audit and accounting policies and positions with the company’s external auditors
• Supervising effective and efficient accounting operations
• Producing relevant, accurate and timely information for the Board of Directors
• Produce analysis that enhances our understanding of the business and provides a solid basis for supporting our accruals and accounting estimates (e.g. account credit issuance, account credit usage/conversion).
• Develop and maintain written accounting policies and procedures and ensure appropriate implementation
• Manage the company’s chart of accounts, including account rollups
• Establish and maintain adequate internal controls policies and procedures related to the financial reporting and consolidation process
• Perform various analyses and ad hoc projects as directed
• Analyze and adopt new processes and technologies that will improve the close and financial reporting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA Certification
• A minimum of 10 years of accounting management in Big Four public accounting and industry
• Experience working with internal controls over financial reporting/Sarbanes-Oxley related experience
• Hands-on operational experience related to external reporting within a public company including preparation and /or review of required SEC filings
• Demonstrated success in leading high-performance accounting teams in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lead and work with minimal supervision and able to respond to multiple changing priorities while demonstrating sound judgment and exercising prudent decision making
• Comfortable with an environment of rapid change and rapid growth
• Exposure to international operations and foreign exchange reporting requirements is a plus
• Experience within the online travel industry is preferred.

This position reports to our CEO in our New York offices.
